Permit time received

A quick summary of how the permit system for the PCT works for those who don’t know.

The PCT is a national scenic trail which passes through lands managed by several agencies, including: US Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, State Parks, Tribal lands, Provincial lands, State and county lands. Many of which would require their own permits.

In order to simplify this process the US Forest Service authorises the Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA) to issue the interagency PCT long-distance permit, up to 50 permits a day are ultimately available. In order to manage the popularity of the trail with the limited number of permits available the PCTA releases the permits in 2 batches via a lottery system. You register your interest before the release day and the day before you are allotted a randomised time slot. You can log in any time after this time slot but not before. You can pick any available permit start dates that are left when you login. The time slots are between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM Pacific Time on permit release day. Permit release day is tomorrow.

With all that in mind I got a randomised time slot of 11:02:29 AM Pacific Time which is towards the beginning of the day and should net me some good options for my start date.
