Flights ☑, hostel ☑, transport ☑

A little under 4 and a half months to go. I found some good deals on flights to San Diego so snapped them up tonight. I arranged a 2 night stay at a hostel in Ocean Beach to give me a moment to decompress, do a bit of sightseeing and prepare anything I need to prepare stateside: ice axe, micro spikes, fuel canister, food and trekking poles.

My shuttle from Old Town Transit Center will take me to REI for some very last minute gear purchases, the same again for food at The Campo Green Store, the Campo Post Office to send off any resupply boxes before stopping off at the CLEEF camping ground for what is almost certainly going to be a sleepless night before I start.

I mentioned resupply boxes above, for those that don’t know what they are let me explain. The PCT passes through multiple small towns during its length, unfortunately not all of these towns are fully equipped to deal with the volume of Thru-hikers that come through. As some of these towns are so remote it costs a lot to get supplies up into these towns and a premium is added. In order to make the adventure as cost effective as possible you can send forward some shelf stable supplies General Delivery to be held at the post office ahead until your arrival.
